I saw a NET10 commercial the other day and nearly fell off the sofa.

A NET10 commercial on regular TV? Wow. Then I saw an ad in a magazine for NET10. Wow!

It seems that word is getting out.

I always thought that NET10 was my secret. I thought no one knew about 'em, even though they're in stores all over the place.

I never, ever hear anyone bragging about having a NET10 phone.

I guess saving money isn't cool. Having a nice phone to talk and text is... boring? (I guess so!)

Starting today, NET10 is offering two new Nationwide 30 Day Monthly Plans: the NET10 30 Day Monthly Unlimited Plan and the NET10 30 Day Monthly 750 Minutes Plan.

First, sign into your Twitter account. From your home page, go to Settings, then Devices (below).

Or you can access this page from HELP, which is available on every Twitter page.

Just follow the instructions to add your phone (so Twitter recognizes it and doesn't post random Tweets to your account.)

You can either set it up directly from your phone...

A friend of mine asked to borrow my Net10 phone. He's a freelance journalist and needs to interview someone in Canada.

He already has a cell phone from a company that shall remain nameless (but their initials are "ATT".) He's had it forever, even though he knows that Net10, TracFone or Straight Talk costs less. After this, though, I think he's REALLY convinced. Here's why...

Before making his Canadian call, he decided to see how much it would cost from HIS phone... rather than waiting for the bill. So he called 611 and asked the nice lady at the other end how much they charge to call Canada.

With an "International Plan," it's $2.49 a minute. Without the plan, $5.99 a minute. He thanked her politely and then called me to borrow my Net10 phone.

How much is it to call Canada on my Net10 phone?

Fifteen cents a minute.

It's no secret that many commercial artists move on to features films, TV series and the like.

It's also not unknown for them to move back and forth between various fields. Ridley Scott, director of Alien, Blade Runner, Thelma and Louise, Gladiator and many others, also directed the commercial that's considered by many to be the best ever, Apple's 1984.

Steven Soderberg, Spike Jonze, Spike Lee, McG and scores of other writers, directors, artists, actors and technicians have worked on commercials, theatrical and TV features, music videos and other media.

Many comic artists, including greats like Jack Kirby and Alex Toth, have done character designs, story boards and other commercial animation work.

Fans of Cartoon Network's Adult Swim programming love its edgy, anarchic and culturally self-referential animated features like Space Ghost, Harvey Birdman and most recently, TheVenture Brothers , a Jonny Quest pastiche (at the very least).

Artist Matthew I. Jenkins drew covers and interior art for DC Comics and worked on animation projects for HBO, David Letterman and Cartoon Network's Brak Show. He's also done character designs and more for The Venture Brothers.
